How a Password Changed my Life ... A true story from the Reader’s Digest ... #story

How a Password Changed my Life ... A true story from the Reader's Digest ...

I was having a great morning until I sat down in front of my office computer. "your password has expired", a server message flashed on my screen, with instructions for changing it...In my company we have to change password monthly..

I was deeply depressed after my recent divorce. Disbelief over what she had done to me was what I thought all day.
I remembered a tip I'd heard from my former boss. He'd said, "I'm going to use a password that is going to change my life". I couldn't focus on getting things done in my current mood.. My password reminded me that I shouldn't let myself be a victim of my recent breakup and that I was strong enough to do something about it.

I made my password – Forgive@her. I had to type this password several times every day, each time my computer would lock. Each time I came back from lunch I wrote forgive her.
The simple action changed the way I looked at my ex-wife.. That constant reminder of reconciliation led me to accept the way things happened and helped me deal with my depression.. By the time the server prompted me to change my password following month, I felt free.

The next time I had to change my password I thought about the next thing that I had to get done. My password became Quit@smoking4ever .
It motivated me to follow my goal and I was able to quit smoking.

One month later, my password became Save4trip@europe, and in three months I was able to visit Europe.

Reminders helped me materialize my goals kept me motivated and excited.  it's sometimes difficult to come up with your next goal, keeping at it brings great results.

After a few months my password was
lifeis#beauTful !!!

Life is going to change again :)

Inspirational Poem - “I’d Rather See A Sermon” by Edgar Albert Guest

"I'd Rather See A Sermon" by Edgar Albert Guest

I'd rather see a sermon

Than hear one, any day;

I'd rather one would walk with me

Than merely tell the way;

The eye's a better pupil

And more willing than the ear.

Fine counsel is confusing,

But example's always clear,

And the best of all the preachers

Are the men who live their creeds,

For to see good put in action

Is what everybody needs.

I soon can learn to do it

If you'll let me see it done;

I can watch your hands in action,

But your tongue too fast may run.

And the lecture you deliver

May be very wise and true,

But I'd rather get my lessons

By observing what you do.

For I might misunderstand you

And the high advice you give.

But there's no misunderstanding

How you act and how you live.

Be optimistic about life..

*Good Morning*

*Worries at the start of the day means u r still alive!!

*Clothes that don't fit means u have a good appetite.

*Tears in ur eyes means there is somebody u care for.

*The mess to clean after party means u have friends around u.

*Roof that needs fixing means u have got a house.

*Taxes to pay means u r not unemployed.

Let's be optimistic in life because everything around us happens for a reason......

Keep smiling :-))

What is Maturity?

Poem on Maturity

MATURITY is...
Knowing when to use your head,
Or when to use your heart,
Knowing when to opt out of the race,
or when you should take part.

It is not a level you reach,
Nor a sermon you preach,
It is about the choices you make,
Its about the risks that you take.

It's about when to go with the flow,
Or when to just get up and go.
It is about who you can trust,
And even who you should bust,

It determines who you support,
and who you praise and applaud,
What to stall, who to oppose,
or, even when to expose a fraud.

It is continuous work in progress..
and doing what has to be done,
Its when to stay in the shadows,
and when to bask in the sun.

Its knowing how to push harder,
and how to reach the top.
Its challenging the status quo,
even when Life asks you to stop.

It is about being your best self,
and daily playing your part.
Its not a science nor a formula,
but it surely can become an art.

Its closing your commitments,
and completing what you start,
It's not fake, nor being pseudo,
it is being authentic till you depart.

IAN FARIA.

Gratefulness that makes us happy not the other way!

THIS IS A MUST READ FOR ALL PEOPLE, SEE HOW NEGATIVE THINGS CAN BE CONVERTED INTO POSITIVE WAYS

A famous Writer was in his study room looked depressed & deeply thinking. He picked up his pen and started writing on a plain paper
*Last year, I had a surgery and my gall bladder was removed. I had to stay in the bed, due to this surgery, for a very long time.
*The same year I reached the age of 60 years and had to give up my favourite job. I had spent 30 years of my life with a Publishing Company.
*The same year I experienced the sorrow of the death of my father.
*And in the same year my son failed in his medical exam because he met with an accident while driving my car. He had to stay in hospital with the plaster for several weeks. The destruction of my vehicle was another great loss that year.
At the end he wrote: Oh God! It was such a bad year!!
When the Writer's wife entered the room, she found her husband looking very sad & lost in his thoughts. From behind his back, she read what was written on that paper. She left the room silently and came back with another paper and replaced it with that of her husband's.
When the writer saw this paper, he found his name written on it with following lines:
*Last year, I finally got rid of my gall bladder due to which I had spent years in pain...!!!
*I turned 60 with sound health and got retired from my job. Now I can utilize my time to write something more interesting with more focus and peace...!!
*The same year my father, at the age of 95, without depending on anyone or without any critical illness met his Creator...!!
*The same year, God blessed my son with a new life. My car was destroyed but my son stayed alive without getting any disability...!!!
At the end, she wrote:
This year was an immense blessing of God and it passed well !!! THANK GOD
The Writer was indeed happy and amazed at such beautiful and encouraging interpretation of the happenings in his life, that YEAR !!!
Moral: In daily lives we must see that it's not happiness that makes us grateful, but grate-fulness that makes us happy.
To all my lovely friends & family members...
THINK POSITIVE
Be HAPPY & Stay Blessed

Count Your Blessings

I am changing and loving the new me..

Good lines.. I am changing and loving the new me..

Days slip into weeks, weeks turn into months and months transform into years. Calendars are changing and so am I.

Yes, I am changing. *After loving my parents, my siblings, my spouse, my children, my friends, now I have started loving myself.*

Yes, I am changing. *I just realised that I am not " Atlas " and the world does not rest on my shoulders.*

Yes, I am changing. *I now stopped bargaining with poor vegetables and fruits vendors. After all, a few rupees more is not going to burn a hole in my pocket but it might help the poor fellow save for his daughter's school fees.*

Yes, I am changing. *I pay the autowalla / cabbie and walk away without waiting for the change. The extra money might bring a smile on his face. After all he is toiling much harder for a living than me.*

Yes, I am changing. *I stopped telling the elderly that they have already narrated that story many times. After all, the story makes them walk down the memory lane and relive the past.*

Yes, I am changing. *I have learn not to correct people even when I know they are wrong. After all, the onus of making everyone perfect is not on me. Peace is more precious than perfection.*

Yes, I am changing. *I give compliments freely and generously. After all its a mood enhancer not only for the recipient, but also for me*.

Yes, I am changing. *I have learnt not to bother about a crease on my shirt or a spot on my skirt. After all, personality speaks louder than appearances*.

Yes, I am changing. *I walk away from people who don't value me. After all, they might not know my worth, but I do*.

Yes, I am changing. *I remain cool when someone plays dirty politics to outrun me in the rat race. After all, I am not a rat and neither am I in any race*.

Yes, I am changing. *I am learning not to be embarrassed by my emotions. After all, it's my emotions that make me human.*

Yes, I am changing. *I have learnt that its better to drop the ego than to break a relationship. After all, my ego will keep me aloof whereas with relationships I will never be alone*.

Yes, I am changing. *I demand for whatever is due to me. After all, accepting injustice is almost as bad as doing injustice*.

Yes, I am changing. *I've learnt to live each day as if it were the last. After all, it might be the last* .

Yes, I am changing. *I am doing what makes me happy. After all, I am responsible for my happiness, and I owe it to me.*

*AND I'M LOVING THE NEW ME*.

Fable of porcupines

26/11/17, 2:28:21 PM: Philo TILT Member: A great story for any group !!

The Fable of Porcupines. (worth reading)
**********************

It was the coldest winter ever. Many animals died because of the cold. The porcupines, realizing the situation, decided to group together to keep warm.

This way they covered & protected themselves; but the quills of each one wounded their closest companions.

After a while, they decided to distance themselves one from the other & they began to die, alone & frozen.

So they had to make a choice..
.
Either accept the quills of their companions or disappear from the Earth. Wisely, they decided to go back to being together.
.
They learned to live with the little wounds caused by the close relationship with their companions in order to receive the warmth & heat that came from the others. This way they were able to survive.

The best Group is not the one that brings together perfect people, but where each individual learns to live with the imperfections of others & at the same time, admire the other person's good qualities as well.

Better to be surrounded by 'warm wounds' than be frozen in solitude!!!!!! 😊

How can I increase my own value? - message through Michael Jordan story

08/01/18, 9:40:27 AM: Raju Vusirikala: Michael Jordan was born in 1963, in the slums of Brooklyn, New York.

He had four siblings and his father's earnings were not sufficient to provide for the whole family.

He grew up in a poor neighbourhood. Exposed to mindless violence and heavy discrimination in the slums, he saw for himself only a hopeless future.

His father saw in Michael, a lost soul and decided to do something.

He gave Michael, who was 13 years old, a piece of used clothing and asked: "What do you think the value of this outfit would be?"

Jordan replied,"Maybe one dollar."

His father asked, "Can you sell it for two dollars? If you can sell it, it would mean that you are a big help to your family."

Jordan nodded his head, "I'll try, but no guarantee that I'll be successful."

Jordan carefully washed the cloth clean. Because they didn't have an iron, to smoothen the cloth, he levelled it with a clothes brush on a flat board, then kept it in the sun to dry. The next day, he brought the clothes to a crowded underground station. After offering it for more than six hours. Jordan finally managed to sell it for $2. He took the two dollar bill and ran home.

After that, everyday he looked for used clothing, washed and ironed it, and sold it in the crowd.

More than ten days later, his father again gave him a piece of used clothing, "Can you think of a way you can sell this for 20 bucks?"

Aghast, Jordan said, "How is it possible? This outfit can only fetch two dollars at the most."

His father replied, "Why don't you try it first? There might be a way."

After breaking his head for a few hours, finally, Jordan got an idea.

He asked for cousin's helpto paint a picture of Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse on the garment. Then he tried to sell it in the school where the children of the rich study.

Soon a housekeeper, who was there to pick his master, bought that outfit for his master. The master was a little boy of only 10 years. He loved it so much and he gave a five dollar tip. 25 dollars was a huge amount for Jordan, the equivalent of a month's salary of his father.

When he got home, his father gave him yet another piece of used clothing, "Are you able to resell it at a price of 200 dollars?" Jordan's eyes lit up.

This time, Jordan accepted the clothes without the slightest doubt. Two months later a popular movie actress from the movie "Charlie's Angels", Farah Fawcett came to New York for her Movie promos. After the press conference, Jordan made his way through the security forces to reach the side of Farah Fawcett and requested her autograph on the piece of clothing. When Fawcett saw this innocent child asking for her autograph, she gladly signed it.

Jordan was shouting very excitedly, "This is a jersey signed by Miss Farah Fawcett, the selling price is 200 dollars!" He auctioned off the clothes, to a businessman for a price of 1,200 dollars!

Upon returning home, his father broke into TEARS and said, "I am amazed that you did it My child! You're really great! "

That night, Jordan slept alongside his father. His father said, "Son, in your experience selling these three pieces of clothing, what did you learn about success?"

Jordan replied, "Where there's a will, there's a way."

His father nodded his head, then shook his head, "What you say is not entirely wrong! But that was not my intention. I just wanted to show you that a piece of used clothing which is worth only a dollar can also be increased in value, Then how about us - living & thinking humans? We may be darker and poorer, but what if we CAN increase our VALUE."

This thought enlightened young Jordan. Even a piece of used clothing could be made dignified, then why not me? There is absolutely no reason to underestimate myself.

From then on, Michael Jordan felt that his future would be beautiful and full of hope.

He went on to become the greatest basketball player of all times.

How can I increase my own value? I am finding it a very interesting thought. I am sure, you too, will.

Do have a splendid
year ahead.

Rewire your brain to be positive

Taken from TOI Sunday times 1st October edition
Focusing on the negative can hinder our ability to find the positive and happy life.
1. What can I feel grateful for right now?
Count your blessings. By asking yourself what you are grateful for, you will see a lot of change in your thinking
2. How can I bring smile to somebody's face right now?
Look around, give a shout out to someone and see how you change yourself
3. How can I have fun right at this moment?
Takeout even 15mins a day to do what you like the most. That is the minimum you can do to for yourself
4. How can I express my love for someone else?
Gift, help or shout to express your love for someone everyday. This will immediately rewire your brain to feel positive about life. Studies show that expressing love can increase happiness, boost immunity, reduce anxiety, depression, and increase feelings of connectedness.
